This weekend me and the Lady went up to seattle, Why? Well this weekend was the only Sun we’ve seen in the past 3 or 70 weeks!?!? its been doom n gloom around here. So what better than making a weekend out of it. The sun was out, the heat was raging awesome at a cool but warm 70+ degrees. My burns on my forehead state that it was a pleasant weekend outside
This photo is the first edited photo from the weekend. I finally was able to take the Nikon D800 outside and play due to the decent weather… I know its “weather sealed” but I didn’t want to take the chance in the monsoon rains we’ve been having.
So far I am loving this cam.

Are we confined by our fear? does it define us? does it control us? does it make us who we are today? Are you not a traveler because of fear? Are you not a millionaire because you didn’t invent that idea you had three years ago that just surged the Market today in the Dow? Why are you Controlled? You are an Independent individual that makes decisions both scarey and safe. Don’t you think that it’s time to put away what scares you and Do. Once you Do and Do enough times, you will soon be so custom to what you thought was so scarey that you will be looking for the next goal the next hierarchy in the chain of your wants and accomplishments. I believe that all things are possible. But I also believe that You initiate all things that are Possible. Moral of the Story: Get Off Your Couch and Make Your Dreams Come True.

The warm tones in this photo offer the idea that all you need now is some hot chocolate, a fire in the fireplace, nice tunes playing, a pretty so and so next to ya and a log cabin… There, if you have all that, you have perfection and should just celebrate your life right now. I am close to all those things, hm, maybe I should look at it as a form of a check list or something. I love that relaxing, cozy feeling.
This photo was taken of a log Cabin up by Mt. Rainier, it was after a long 15 mile hike and of course after stopping every 5 feet to take photos (and to catch my breath) it naturally took forever to get through the hike, but gotta say, I like the turn out and I hope you do too. If you click on the photo and see the original on my Etsy Page you can see the star shift indicating how long A: the shutter speed was and also the earth’s tilt. Pretty cool stuff.

I love this time of year, its funny how its among the most stressful time of year, but with the perfect balance of sugar from all the cookies and bing crosby singing some odd melodies that we for some reason think make the most sense are uplifting. After listening to Frosty the Snowman, I’m like, I’m 28 and I like this… is there something wrong with me? Then I step outside and I hear other older than me humming even a stranger song like that Hippopotamus song, we listen to this stuff and we think thats ok/normal is that not weird to anyone else? Don’t even get me started on putting a live, huge tree in your house this post may get to be pages long. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas time and all it has to bring. It is the best time of the year, just funny how the traditions are and how they came about. Its just funny how it seems that the public masked its stress with sugar and upbeat n’ uplifting tones…
This photo was taken at Gas Works which is oddly enough a park in Seattle. Best view of Seattle in my opinion and the best place to bring a special lady ;-) especially at dusk. Just be sure not to forget the blanket…

Did you think that since its Now April, I was going to be ordinary and throw up a Nice Spring-like scene? Oh No way Jose… Yea, thats right I said it. I’m a sucker for the sunset, and oh, so is the rest of the world. So my interest and my visions are moving on it seems. I love Character Portraits and any photo with people. People are amazing, I think its God’s greatest achievements even though there is so much hate and destruction in the world. I think we are Brilliant Beings.. Anyway, I digress. I am going to start my venture into character portraits and studio style photography along with shooting for advertising if need be. I find works by Dave Hill to be truly Mesmerizing (davehill.com) as well as Dean Bradshaw (deanbradshaw.com.au) yea, hes even an Aussie so he automatically gets.. well .. two points in my book. And just general fashion stylized photography such as Jaime Ibarra’s work (his site is ibarraphoto.com) which always gets me green with envy. His style is so beautiful and can make the must natural looking thought provoking composites. Well anyway, this is my start and my shout out to say hey I’m exploring, and well, I’m an explorer, so Please Ride this Train with Me.

Just because I write on this post, and on posts before and posts for the future, does this mean I’m an author? Certainly not a good one, but an author at that. Does that make you an author? Does that make my letter to my Mother when I was 5 years old a work of art? She may think so, and probably still has it but does that make anyone with a pen an author? Cause technically anything written, anywhere is “published”… That just makes me think. I looked up the other day that now anyone can self publish a book, I thought wow how cool is that? but, wait, doesn’t that defeat the purpose? just because there is access doesn’t mean we should have more words floating in the air that as useless as the last. Before I make this post just as useless, I will shut up and let you think about those words.
I can’t help but think about that little girl in this museum seen way into the frame by the furthest wall in the photo. What moment is she having? is this the moment that she decides to be an artist of some form? is this the moment where she begins her inspiration for art and its capabilities on the world and on people? Is this the moment that she will never forget and always strives for again? I like to think so. Oddly enough she probably complained and argued to try and get her way to go to Chuck E Cheese today instead of a Museum cause honestly, what kid wants to go to a museum? That’s why this girl struck me; I hope shes doing well and while on a swing at school thinking about her time at the Seattle Art Museum.

Sometimes I find myself embraced, gone, all together lost within my visions, thoughts and ideas. The ideas aren’t always creative either, thoughts like why is this person doing “this” or “that” whether I think it to be logical or plainly doesn’t make sense is irrelevant to them actually doing it. I beleive people have this perspective of me at… no, most of the times. Cause I often have a blank stare happening, but boy if you were to look in my mind wheels are turning faster than a rat wheel. A mouse wheel would have probably been more pleasing to read…. hm. So, the expression take your head out of the camera exists for me when those moments occur. like, Jim, jim, snap out of it. Often I do think about new ways to light things, new ways to set up stuff, and interesting ideas that most likely revolve around the camera.
Is in Mt. Rainier National Park, and turning this bend in the trail I thought man, this trail looks as if I am going to walk right in to the sun if I keep going. Loved it. May be a little hot there, so I just took a pic of it. Some haters out there don’t like Lens Flare, to me I think this authentic showing if it (meaning not photoshopped) really makes the photo pop and add interest, but thats just my in-camera thought… Whats your in-Camera thought??

As soon as Halloween rolls around the internet is filled with photos of themselves and others in their Halloween costume. Costumes of all kinds, cutesy, raunchy, slutty, normal, superheros, you name it, you’ll see it. And now more than ever is there access to publish these costumed people all over the internet with phones (even the cheap ones) having the camera function to upload to your social media site of choice. Many phones now can literally take a picture and it automatically goes on to flickr, or facebook and so forth. I am not against this, I am just fathomed by the amount of people that will post this to the internet for all to see! Just think of it, there will be more photos of that this year 2012 than Ever before. Last year you may think there was a lot. But this year, there will be more as people have gotten older or more advanced technologically with their phones or cameras or knowledge of computers and internet to get it on there quickly and without much thought. Privacy? whats that? but ask any medical worker and its the most important topic in the industry… Kind of ironic if you ask me… People/Patients have no problem or posting obscene and crazy pictures on the internet- But at the doctors office if you tell others my Birth date I will SUE! Anyway, Have fun everyone and Be Safe this weekend… And be sure to upload all that you do for all to see! its the Age of the Internet shall no eye go unseen.

This is an interesting band hot of the presses. Sure they are getting more reviews these days and a bit more popular. But their unique sound and delicate ways of influencing their words really inspire me during the moments I need Muse the most. Are you guys digging Civil Wars?
It may have occurred to you that when you click on one of my images it sends you to my Etsy Page. Yes, I do prints of my images- you can pretty much custom any image of any kind in any way you see fit… matte, lustre, canvas, gold beveled, the ways and the style go on. I have a Professional Printing place called Millers Lab waiting for my beckoned call. So don’t be bashful send me a note, order a print off Etsy, you could be holding a RDphoto print in your hand by the weeks end!
Why am I promoting? well a boys got to eat. So that’s the main reason… Plus its what all the cool kids are doing now.

Just ask any Rapper and they will tell you that what they sing about is often times not what their lifestyle is like or who they are, they’ll tell you that its all about the “image” … image? I thought it was about the music. The melody, the carefully alignment of words and instruments. At least that is what I love about music. The old school Bright Eyes music from his Teenage Years was inspiration for my adult-hood. How is that possible? How can this “Kid” reach into this realm of maturity and thought that can gather information and enlightenment well beyond his years? I don’t know, but its a great example regarding how what may be inspirational to you can be also to any number of people and that there are No Limits to what you can accomplish.
Music for me is a gateway to a much needed place that provides me with a certain peace and serenity that I need Daily, or else I think I’ll go nutso. Anyway you can check out my “Freedom Through Music” gallery on the link in blue. There are more photos for that Gallery Coming, they are sitting in my “to be processed” folder in lightroom numbering now close to 3,000… I”m starting to feel like a profession photog as I’m becoming more and more backed up on my photo processing … there is just not enough hours in the day I tell ya

I would be a Poet, I would be a Singer-Songwriter, I would be fluent with words at speaking engagements, I would be a Painter, I would be a sketch Artist, I would be a Graffiti Guru, I would be mountain climber, I would be a fighter of causes, I would be kayaker, I would be a swimmer, I would be a World Traveler, I would be a Nobel Prize Winner, I would have an Oprah Sticker on my Book, I would be a Rock Climber, I would be Road Biker (bicycling), I would Passionate if Only I….
What Holds us Back? I suppose if I excelled at all these things, time would not be an issue with me, sleep would not be needed and food was only a substance I thought about from time and again. I think I would be a machine. How often do we all have so many interests, so many desires, so many things we want to accompish to the point where it feels like an overload! We feel exhausted and end up doing nothing. Or watching someone else do one of these things to the point of perfection and saying to ourselves “I want to do that” and then watching someone else do something to the point of perfection, us then thinking “why can’t I do THESE things” truth is we can’t. We are not Machines, we can’t master everything. Finding our passion and sticking with it is the hardest thing any one of us can do. I think after 28 years, I have found my passion. My Realistic Passion. Traveling, Photography, little Writings. So what if I’m not Shakespeare, Monet or Bono. I can only do so much and I am happy with that. Are You Happy?

The thought that there are people out there that have nothing safe to drink for days, make me want to get up and do something. The thought that there are people that openly risk their lives and drink parasite infested waters just to survive a few more months or maybe just days make me wonder how can we ever complain about anything. Really, anything. We are so fortunate as Americans to have Fresh Water, sure we have our problems, just turn on the news, anywhere and it will be filled with our “problems” but problems such as water needs to be known.

In photography it is very easy to take away color and add color where you see fit. Basically adding attention, direction and vision towards what you want the viewers to see. Just by adding and taking away color. Also aligning your photo in such a way that the frame of the picture suggests your eyes to see certain things that you may want to direct attention to. Event Photog’s have to do this on a photo by photo basis. I’m glad I don’t necessarily have to think of the sciences of the eye on each photo but honestly, at times I do.
Hang on tight while we grab the next page
