My First Conceptual Piece from a while back… have progressed since then, but at times its always nice to see where we started…

I often overlook the special aroma that you feel at a B&B and tend to just jump straight to the idea of a hotel/motel typical places of stay on travels and other various vacations.
I’m going to start broadening my horizons looking for more cozier options, more ma and pop type of places.
Sure it may be more costlier but you have a sense that A: your doing some good with your money for the family, B: the Atmosphere at these types of places you can’t find in a hotel and C: the Service is usually spectacular, because, well, they actually care about your stay as opposed to a 15 yr old bell hop whom throws your luggage around like a football.
All to conclude, B&B’s are cool and so are the more rustic options out there as opposed to your typical “Ramada Inn”.

Burning bright as the sun shines comforts this tree with its comforting warmth of life. I guess I can be called a tree-hugger but I’m not as diehard tree huggish as some out there but, I do appreciate scenes like this that brings an idea of perfection all of the world.
That perhaps in this moment no wrong is being done to one another and no bad thing is being thought about or embraced.
Ahhhh Peace

I wonder if there are architects out there that seeing a building like this, yes a building like this-
This Crushed Can looking building actually sits the place of Seattles Space Center
Getting back, I wonder if architects see this building and get mad. Mad because it broke all the rules!
Or, are there architects out there that rejoice the rule breaking? It seems that in this world of consistent change and fast moving, and everything being instant, Rules are Being Broken.
We have “rules” or perhaps suggestions in photography, but honestly, breaking them is more fun, and it seems to be the thing to do these days….
Creatively speaking that is ; )
Why did I make the switch from Etsy Selling platform to Smugmug? Well, first off Etsy seems to be all artsy and crafty and a seemingly reasonable way to get your product out to buyers but the hidden truth is that it is not much better than trying to sell on Facebook.
Etsy tends to support those that are highly involved in Etsy, they promote you if you have a billion product listings, is that fair? No. To have one listing may seem cheap at 20 cents, but what happens when someone buys it? well, you have to re-list it. Oh and they take a good 12% of the total value of the product including shipping charges. So in the end you have to over charge your customers, Who wants to do that in This Economy?? Not me.
So I moved to Smugmug, whoa the freedom, the flexibility, its a selling platform I have always wished for. So goodbye Etsy and Hello Smuggers!

I don’t believe beauty can be destroyed nor do I think it should be attempted but in a world that seems to find its own good in things that often destroys things, beauty now has to become more open minded. Like in wars, forest fires, drugs, etc scary.
This is not your typical “beauty” composite and I was just playing around seeing what ideas were gonna perk up..
hope all is having a Wonderful Day

I’ve always hated bathroom mirror self portraits that became popular by teenage crazies and who are we kidding? some Adult Crazies as well.
So I wanted to make some sort of parody of that. Sure no toes are being stepped on here, shoot away in from of the dirty-zit-pus-filled-mirror, I don’t care…
I just wanted to show that more creative ways can be utilized by these wonderful reflections… The reflections of the True “Self” portrait…

Continuing my journey in learning as much as I can about retouching from many greats out there…
But I need practice! So if you want your photo taken and composited in various ways including this one for your own use, let me know, I’d be glad to give it a whack!
Thanks for stopping by!
My Girlfriend Cait took a daring challenge four months ago to attempt a Marathon. Well that day has come and gone and she was Victorious. Finished in 3 hours and 47 minutes. I think I can finish a carton of ice cream in 3 hours, but running 26.2 miles. No Way.
Here is a Video of some of the runners including her in there somewhere. And I also took photos of the event which you can see at my Flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rainingdreams/sets/72157629856655996/
or variously on my Website here: http://rainingdreams.com/
Also you can see the page speaking of prints if you ran the marathon and wanna print, just let me know and we can work something out… oh the link… http://rainingdreams.com/capital_city_marathon_olympia_wa
This was my first Video, yea, ah, Ever. So be kind in your comments :)

“They say” that in composition it is a good idea to have your subject pointed out such as in leading lines or having elements in your environment point to your primary subject. Well that is precisely what I tried to do in this photo… By the way who are “They” anyway….
So take a look- the edge of the architectural building points to the needle, the trees at the top left point to the needle, the two shiny pillars point to the needle, even the trees in the background and the path of the sidewalk all point, and lead the eye to the needle… Accident? I think not.

Practicing my act at street photography. Olympia WA is an amazing to do such things. There are a bunch of crazies round these parts… And I mean that in the good way.

I have been practicing more with my compositions lately, especially when it comes to portraits and landscape photography. One classic composition style is to have leading lines within your photo and if you can have those lines lead to something magnificent then your creating a quality photo.
Well it is common but this evening in Seattle I had to take much of the most glorious opportunity to take some night photos, because A: there were finally very interesting clouds in seattle (very rare- usually its just a straight blanket of clouds) and B: there was a pretty intense sunset happening. Now typically in Seattle you can find interesting things all around you but they are usually walking around (if you know what I mean). Seattle is just like any old city with sky scrapers and automobiles every where. So when I ran across this architectural gem I had to figure out how to make a decent shot of it. So, none other, did I practice the compositional rule of leading lines.
I hope you enjoyed it.

I think one of the many things that is challenging for a photographer these days is “editing the pics” not necessarily post processing but editing in terms of picking out the “Best” images to display to the world.
From perusing flickr, google +, etc I see that some have mastered this and from perusing my own catalogue I see that I have much to learn and much to practice.
It is a practice and an art to display a picture that just works that only took 3 minutes to post process and then an image that you’ve been trying so hard to “just work” for hours maybe even days that you post that you should have never posted. When it works it works, and you shouldn’t have to think very hard about it—- thats what this pic was, it just worked. I felt like I needed to do so much to it - just because, thats what we do as photogs, but why? when it works it works, the end.

Branching off of the motif of my Seattle Weekend. Here is a classic reflection off of the Seattle Space Center of the ever more impressive landmark of the Seattle Space Needle.
It was of course a reasonably clear night in Seattle. And anyone from here would tell you that either you have Too Many Clouds in Seattle or Not Enough of Them… here is a case of not enough of them. So I tried my darndest to get the most of the frame here in this pic with what I had from the environments.
Hang on tight while we grab the next page
